Default Hi newbie here

I`m so pleased to have found this forum, I`ve got a few things going on that I would really like some advice on.

I was diagnosed with a benign brain cyst 9 years ago, which thankfully was removed successfully with no re-growth.

At the time my Dr prescribed me Temazepam a benzo sleeping pill, which not knowing how addictive they are, I continued taking until a few months ago.

I started becoming ill with all sorts of weird symptoms, and it was decided I`d reached a tolerance to this drug. Again not knowing anything about it I stupidly cold turkeyed it.

This was 6 months ago and I`ve been in hell ever since with benzo withdrawal.

I saw my Dr 2 weeks ago and he prescribed Lyrica to help the WD from the benzo- I began taking 25 mg x 3 daily but these didn`t agree with me and were no help whatsoever.

Since the brain surgery I have dizziness anyway and usually cope but the Lyrica made this much much worse.

So I weaned the Lyrica down and today haven`t taken any. Can I have WD from these as I`ve got sweats, nausea, headache, watering eyes added to the symptoms of benzo WD, which is basically muscle spasms and pain.

Also my last question - I`m very nervous of this benzo WD after having brain surgery.
I`ve read that my brain has been injured by the drug and the CT and terrified I wont recover because I had that brain surgery!

Thank you anyone who kindly answers.

Hello joy2u,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I'm very sorry for all you're going through.

You could check or post over on the
Medications & Treatments Forum

You could also try a forum search in there for previous posts as well.

I'm sure there will be members here who can offer information and support. I've never taken those medications but I know there are posts on the forums regarding the Lyrica.

If you continue to feel so unwell, please go back to see your Doctor.

Take care of yourself.

thank you Lara, I saw my doctor yesterday, he believes most of this is benzo WD.

I am sorry I should have been more clear-

My questions are-

I have taken Lyrica for about 7 days then I tapered down the last few days and haven`t had any today.
I`m having headaches, nausea, sweating, blurry vision. Could these be Lyrica WD symptoms after only taking it a short while? I was taking 25mg x 3 daily until the last few days when I tapered.

I`m also going through benzo WD after a CT 6 months ago. I was taking the benzo for 10 yrs.
I had brain surgery 9 yrs ago and had a cyst on my brainstem successfully removed-
But I am terrified in case the previous surgery will stop my recovery from this.
thank you sooo much
