Confused Fahr's Syndrome and Epilepsy in my Son

Hello! I'm 68 years old, and my 39 year old son has been diagnosed with both of these diseases for about 5 years now. The genetic dominant was gotten from his father--who was never formally diagnosed.
David has the calcium on the brain, several types of seizures, paranoid schizophrenia, MS type symptoms with shaking and twitching, along with vision problems and hearing disorders, and dental problems.
He also has experienced a lowering of IQ in the last years, and he is deteriorating. I want to find out if anybody on this forum knows anyone who can perform neuropsych testing to determine IQ, cognition, and memory? If something were to happen to me, he needs something in writing to qualify him for government programs that can help him. He's falling through the cracks right now.
I live within driving distance of Charleston, SC. He is on medicaid and SSI.
ANYBODY know someone? I'm at my wit's end!

Hello and welcome to the NeuroTalk support groups!

For a start, here is the link to the Epilepsy Forum

You should perhaps talk with the Doctor who knows your son's medical history and voice your concerns about the future and ask for a referral for NeuroPsychological testing. I'm not in your country but I do know that where I am, we need a referral. Sometimes they're done by private Psychologists and sometimes they can be done at big institutions such as Universities. I'm not sure if it's the same in the US but imagine it is. If your son sees a Psychiatrist, then I'm sure she/he would be able to give you advise as well.
