Default New to this but a Vet in pain.

I havent ben much for talking about problems as I have been accustome to seeing a problem and more into trying to fix it. I was a person that could help people and save lives, now I feel sad that my life has been turned upside down. I have lived in pain since 2009 when I had a miner surgery for a Morton's neuroma. I since then have lost my way. My dream has been to be a soldier. That is who I am and always will be. I have spent years fighting for my dream and had it in the palm of my hands when it was taken away. I have been trying to cope with my new life as a civilian but I am having a hard time. The pain never leaves and the Doctors are at a loss of what to do now that the pain is getting worse. My health has been declining and with that the job market for what I can do is short and money has been dwindling. I have more in medical bills then I could ever make in the rest of my life. I tried to do a go fund me page for help but to no avail. I am one step from being homeless and the debt collectors only care to garnish what little I do have with no regard for the situation I am being placed in. I told one collector what was happening and her response was, "Well if you stopped going to a doctor and you wouldn't have to owe so much and I wouldn't have to keep calling you." I wish I could find someone with some helpful advise.

Hello Nielson and Welcome to Neurotalk Support Groups

I am so sorry for the pain and struggle you've been enduring these past few years. So many of us understand how life can change on a dime and how difficult the losses can be. You have landed in a soft place with many caring people.

I see that you found the RSD/CRPS board. There are also other areas you might enjoy such as

Medications and Treatments

and Coping with Grief and Loss

You'll also find areas for socializing. There is a Search feature at the top of the forum to help you find specific topics and an FAQ that will answer many forum usage questions.

I highly recommend Dr. Pradeep Chopra's video for treatment tips and therapies for CRPS. He is highly regarded and non-doomsday.
CRPS: Diagnosis and Management

Have your doctors considered if you may have formed a stump neuroma after your Morton's neuroma surgery? Those are quite painful as I can attest. I had one in my ankle addressed by a Peripheral Nerve Surgeon and in my case it did help substantially. My CRPS came after something else.

Come see us on the CRPS board. We understand where you're coming from.
Sending healing thoughts,

Have you looked into disability/SSDI?
And/or SSI if you have limited assets?

Welcome to NeuroTalk. I'm glad you posted here.

What type of assistance have you already applied for or checked into?

I'm not sure what the rules are in your state as far as qualifying for food assistance or medical care.

Jo suggested SSDI (Social Security Disability). Is that an option for you? You mentioned you are a Vet so I'm not sure how that works works with SSDI.

I know this has to be incredibly frustrating for you. I hope you can find the assistance you need.

Thank you for your service.

That just breaks my heart. I care.....and I hope most others do, too.

I appreciate your service and sacrifice.

Email, write, call your congress persons, state & federal - they need to know first hand that there is still problems in the Veterans system..

They tried to fix it but old habits are hard to change...
All Vets need to speak up or have their family members speak for them, to keep the changes coming.
