My advice, if weaning, wean off as slowly as you can. I have gotten off Lyrica twice now but have resumed because it is the only med that helps my neuropathy. I was only on 100mg a day and I took months to wean off. My doc gave me 25,50 and 75 mg samples to wean off. You need to be careful of seizures while weaning off, a big reason to go slowly. I did have seizures before taking Lyrica and they resumed when I stopped. (small seizures, called partial complex, not the full blown gran mal type). There were two prescription meds that helped, a tranquilizer called Lorazepam and once when I was getting off both hydrocodone(Vicodin) and Lyrica simultaneously, I was given Clonidine, which is actually a blood pressure med that is also scripted for opiate withdrawal but I think it helped with Lyrica as well. As you mentioned, exercise is great, eating well and any form of distraction. There are some natural things found in health food store like Valerian root or chamomile tea. Ask in the health food store. There is a product called "Calms" or "Calms Forte" by Hylands. Hyland's Calms Nerve Tension and Sleeplessness Relief Tablets | Walgreens Wish you well. Let us know how you are doing. Private message if you need to ask anything personal. My best, D. |
