Default relationship between ATN and GPN

I am a new member and I have had ATN diagnosised since 2009. For the last several months I have had random pain in my throat, left ear and tongue. This pain comes and goes but is very acute. With the ATN my tongue had burning feeling but this pain is more intense. When I went to doctor they could find nothing wrong. I put my symtoms on a web site and Glossopharyngeal neuralgia came up. This looks basically same as Atypyical trigemental neuralgia except one is 5th cranial nerve and other is 9th cranial nerve. Is there anyone who has both of these? When I had a MVD at Duke in 2012 they told me it was cranial defect that caused the ATN. Any info would be welcomed along with any treatment. judith

Hi Judith

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

I don't know much about Trigeminal Neuralgia.

However, if you share your experiences in the forum (https://www.neurotalk.org/forum26/), which is concerned with this, I am sure that you will get helpful thoughts from other NT members.

All the best.
