Default New member with a 19 mm x 8 mm Pineal Cyst

Does anyone have any experience with this? I am newly diagnosed Pineal cyst that they found on my MRI that isn’t related to my current post concussion symptoms that occurred last month. I am scheduled to see a neurosurgeon in Boston to tell me all my options. I have read a lot of research and know if they are small there are no problems and most living people don’t find out about them and the majority are found during autopsies. The one I have is larger (19 mm x 8 mm x 8 mm) than a majority of the ones they usually find. It has to be monitored for growth, and they don’t think it is cancerous, but I have to see a specialist to get more tests.

I have had 10 concussions in my life, my previous concussion 19 years ago where I had an MRI they didn’t show this. This is my second long term post-concussion headache syndrome and it took a year to clear up then. I have a history of some of the cysts typical symptoms: headaches, migraines, sleep apnea, obesity, dizziness, vertigo and glacoma.

Can anyone give me any tips? Info?

Thank you!

Hi Warrensmom1

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

If you use the Search command (top of all NT pages) with "pineal" you will find some threads which could help. Also, this information could help Pineal cyst | Genetic and Rare Diseases Information Center (GARD) – an NCATS Program.

The TBI/PCS forum (https://www.neurotalk.org/forum92/) is very active. If you share your story there I am sure that other members will have helpful responses.

Best wishes.
