Hello, My name is Beryl and I am a 70 year old female. I am in very good health, but recently have had some nerve problems so I had a brain MRI. My doctor said the results were good, but when I got home and looked at the report, it said DIFFUSE CEREBRAL CORTICAL ATRTOPHY PRESENT. I have been trying to call my doctor to ask what this means but have not had a response. I googled it and got very frightened. Can someone please tell me what this means? Thank you so much for all of your time.

Hi Beryl
Welcome to NeuroTalk . My understanding is that diffuse cerebral cortical atrophy can arise for many reasons; it is usually not specifically diagnostic of anything in particular. I hope that your doctor will get back to you to discuss this with you. All the best.
