Default Stabbing Pain with excercise, heat or emotions.

Hi,

I am new here, was hoping somebody may be able to help. I was a heavy drinker for maybe 20 years, but have not had alcohol in over 10 years. Just got clear liver results from scans and bloods so I do not believe these are liver related issues (as itching I believe can be one of the symptoms).

I am not sure if this is a neurological condition but my most recent severe symptoms are:

Sharp stabbing or scratching pain all over body:
- When doing excercise
- After a certain time walking
- When I get any sort of emotional sensation, happy, sad, fright, stress, bang etc
- Sometimes it just comes on , perhaps with some anxious or sub conscious thought, not always clear

Basically anytime i start to sweat during exercise i get this horrible stabbing sensations in many parts of my body. Feels like its the areas where my body is about to sweat and it can last for maybe 5 minutes, but if I push through it actually subsides and I can exercise (as if when my body temp has caught up its not so bad).

Lower grade sensations come across as really irritating itching (not the nice scratch, more itching out of irritation). Sometimes random but usually heat or emotional responses related (cant even cheer on my own team when they score a goal).

This has been getting progressively worse over the last 10 weeks. I originally thought it might of been a kneck injury from Ju Jitsu and then perhaps seeing an Ostepath to fix it but they deny this (hard to know if its relevant). It originally only really happened when I did excercise but it feels like its progressing.

Also, had pretty bad, what I presume is reynauds this year. Feet and hands are freezing alot, hard to warm up. I sort of had this in past but again, nowhere near to this degree.

That said, I have had many of these sensations before on much , much , much lower levels and extremely rare occasions (prob count on one hand in my lifetime). It is like something has trigged it to make it chronic and worse.

The two things I have been diagnosed as having for decades are migraines and General anxiety disorder which is how these have been treated to date. I know migraines can cause a lot of these issues, but the most recent skin/nerve issue is becoming a real big problem.

I also get pins and needles regularly in my hands/arms (wouldnt be surprised if that was Carpel Tunnell) and have had regular odd sensations in my head, have a constant bruising pain in right side of head thats not actually that sore, but sensitive when i touch my hair.

Constant sinus issues, bladder issues and multiple other things that can flare up at different times. Can be a bit clumsy, sleeping issues since i was a teen (that I originally put down to mental health stuff).

Sometimes there is no obvious triggers, weather, stress, sleep, too much coffee (can help or hinder) are obvious ones, but sometimes its not so clear, running to the bathroom for 5 times in an hour for no obvious reason is one thing, but I have a list of over 30 things that just seem to come and go at different times.

Its like sometimes a switch goes off in my body and things go off.

My issue right now is that there is 6 months plus waiting periods for neurologists and I cant wait that long. Anybody got any tips or suggestions on where one could go abroad for quicker treatement ?

Also any feedback on above or anybody who has ever had these issues , feedback would be welcome

Welcome, Drumpot!

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for you because it sounds as if you're very uncomfortable.

I'm assuming you've already looked into any medicines or supplements you've been taking. If you don't find any that might be causing your problems, how about interactions between some of them? It will take some careful digging to get at this information but it's the obvious place to start, IMO.

And have you looked at your diet? Sometimes there's a nutrition imbalance that can cause severe symptoms.

That wait for a neurologist seems to be typical but it's too bad. Specialists often have long waiting lists. You could try asking that doctor's office to let you know if they've had a cancellation so you can be seen earlier.

Thanks Guys,

I got lucky, I think and have been able to reach out to a Dr Nick Silver, a neurologist in Liverpool who specializes in migraines/headaches and all the extra nasty neuroligical conditions that can come with them. He can hopefully point me in right direction if its another neuro condition.

A 3 week wait for an online session is better then half a year wait.

I am working on diet as suggested, just very frustrating

Thanks again
