Default Numbness on feet

Looking for suggestions, help. I am a 72 yr old male in pretty good overall health. About 2 months ago I started having numbness in my feet, esp toes and bottom. Its worse at times. I walk at least 2 miles a day. I have had some numbness in my left foot a little bit in lower leg due to a bad dvt about 30 yrs ago. I still have occasional swelling on bad leg. Wear compression hose at times. Cardiolovist doesn't think its circulatory. Next stop, find me a good, new Neurologist. My prev Neurologist passed away. I do have Epilepsy ,seizure free almost 30 yrs. I have been on a high dose of Phenytoin for years . Putting vicks vaporub on my feet seems to help some.. tingles. Slight burn.. no pain.

Welcome, rkjb1951.
I wonder if you've been checked for diabetes? Quite often it causes the symptoms you describe.

Since you have a cardiologist, my guess is that you were tested for diabetes and that wasn't the problem.

How about spinal problems? Often our backs start to wear out as we get older, and degenerative disk disease and arthritis and other aging "issues" set in. They can cause a boatload of symptoms.

Are you make sure you have the right kind of shoes? For years I bought the cheapest and most comfortable shoes I could find--canvas sneakers--but began to be troubled by back pain and other problems. When I was told that I needed shoes with better support and got them, a lot of my problems went away.

It's just a thought. I hope you can find some helpful answers.

No diabetes, no known spinal issues. I do typically wear comfortable shoes due to some issues with my foot swelling from old dvt. I'm experiments with some essentials also based on info from a nurse friend and product reviews. I'm also considering seeing a Podiatrist.
