Default Drinking

I'm 63 have just started having symptoms...discomfort to pain and some burning and pins and needles mostly in one foot. I have drank too much for years but I eat healthily and am in pretty good shape... but here I am.
What I would like to know is this...I realize I can't drink as I have but can I have a few beers once a month? Or once every 2 weeks. If any one has experience or feedback I would like to hear. Thanks.
