Confused new Tarlov Cyst diagnosis

hi there...i am new to this forum and am looking for others that have this diagnosis that have been having problems finding help...i only recently was diagnosed and have had severe back problems for many years...i saw a neurosurgeon earlier this week who told me that these cysts do not cause pain...of course he could not tell me what was causing my severe arm pain despite the fact that there are new cysts (they were not there last year at this time) and no explanation for my arm pain...the cysts are cervical with one in the lumbar area which he refused to even discuss with me...so if you have any names of mds that are open to this diagnosis being painful i would appreciate the info...thanks and take care all...lisa

Heart

Hi Nanarose,

Welcome to NT.

I have Tarlov cysts too and am new on the journey for treatment (since Mar 07). I don't really get the arm pain but I do lose some use of my arms when I have an active episode. My pain is located along the ribs......it is very painful!!!! Never know when it's going to start again and either side can be affected.

You will find a lot of help here.

Default Hi there Lisa

I know exactly what you are going though, don't let any doctor tell they don't cause pain, they do.I now have permanent S1 nerve damage and disabled from having a Tarlov cyst.So this doctor can help you,Dr. Frank Feigenbaum in Kansas City,Kansas.Don't wait around.Once the cyst gets too large this can happen.I had so many doctors tell it was not what I had, well it was.
