Smile Transverse Mylitis

Hi Everyone,

I am as my name implies I am a grandparent to 4 cuties. I also have Tranverse Mylitis, for right at one year. Having others to talk to about this is so nice, as you all know the Dr's just don't give out that much info.

I have been off and on predisone for the past year, mostly on. The dr's started weining me off over the last 2 months. Well to make a long story short, after 2 weeks off, I had to go back on it. Walking became so painful and the pain in my right arm almost brought me to tears. My question is, will the swelling always be there? As I said before it has been a year and my right side is still numb. (no improvement) as far a the numbness goes.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Mommaw. Welcome to NeuroTalk. This is a very caring and supportive community.

I don't know anything about transverse mylitis, but I did do a search for it on these forums. The only mention I found of it is in the Peripheral Neuropathy forum so I am going to direct you to that. Here is the link. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

I'm so sorry to hear about your problems. Just hearing about the prednisone makes me shudder! I have taken that many times, and the first time I had to be on it for over a year (for my ulcerative colitis). It was hard to taper off of it because as soon as I'd get to a low dose the colitis would start to flare.

Anyway, I'm so glad you found us.
