Default My first post

Hi everyone....I was searching the internet for a forum dedicated to TN and low and behold I found this one. I thought it would be a little easier if had someone to talk to that has experienced this odd but painful condition, and for those of you that have, let me say I feel your pain (literally) and will keep you in my thoughts. I was first diagnosed this time last year after seeing an Opthamologist for what I thought might be an issue with my left eye, after having undergone PRK 3 years ago. The exam was negative and the doctor referred me to a Neurologist because he had heard about Trigeminal Neuralgia and my symptoms sounded suspicious for this condition and he knew it was best to seek the advice of a Neurologist. To make a long story short, I had an MRI of my head with and without contrast and a pain specialist read it and also a Neurosurgeon but they had different opinions of what might be going on. One said he was sure he could the sight of the blood vessel problem and the other wasn't sure. I took Tegretol for a couple of weeks and felt like death warmed over, took myself off of it and have been symptom free....until a month ago when the pain returned. I saw another Opthamologist today to make SURE there was nothing going on with my left eye and again, he said it was fine...no diseases, no injuries, no infections from past surgeries and he recommended I see another Neurologist. I am awaiting a phone call from him for someone he is referring me to. I guess the journey to an answer begins again...
