Default auto immune and hives

Hi my name is sally, i am 32 with 3 children in australia,, i first got hives when i found out i was pregant with my 3 child a year ago, and just put it down to the pregnacy, they went away after he was born, but 2 months ago they broke out again, bad enough to where i was put in hospital twice,, they finally took blood test, and i have protein in my blood, which is not meant to be there, i am waiting to see and immunoligist{ unsure of the spelling}
I have been on steriods, but nothing seems to be taking the hives away, they think i have an auto immune disease,, if anyone has any advice or similar symptoms, i would love to here from you,,, my doctors dont ever seem to be much help.
thank you
