Confused Hello everyone

Hello everyone, I am very happy to be able to talk to people with RSD. I have had RSD for a little over two years now....I am on medications that are making me extremely miserable. It seems to me that all my doctor wants to do is drug me up. I do have a spinal cord stimulator. I am 33 and have had 3 children, one of them....my son Zachy died in my lap 3 years ago from a brain tumor, so I feel like a big baby even complaining about what I am going through since he never complained. I decided two days ago to quit my cymbalta and my Opana ER cold turkey....and am having massive withdrawals, really need help on how to deal with it if anyone has any ideas. Here is a thread I posted somewhere else but have received no replies....hoping that Neurotalk members are a little more friendly.

I have been on Opana for a chronic pain condition called RSD or CRPS. I was on Fentanyl patches for over a year before but could not keep my eyes open so my Dr switched me to Opana ER. I take 60mgs twice daily and I really want off of them. So I quit cold turkey and am having major withdrawals. Maybe I am just a wimp.....have never really taken meds for anything before all of this, but my seven yr old son died in my lap from cancer and he was on some major meds at the end. I just can't do this anymore I am miserable on it, and I want my life back....can't understand why anyone would do this to themselves on purpose I have felt awful since I started on any meds. I have been on the Opana since January and the withdrawals are killing me. Very fidgety, nauseated, severe severe headaches, very moody, upset stomache, want to sleep it off but can't sleep. Please help anyone i am soooo miserable and don't know what to do. I asked my Doc to take me off and he would not even hear of it, so I took matters upon myself. Mayn other side effects....does anyone know how long this crap lasts....I do have 10mg immediate relief but am trying desperately not to take them. I have been off the Opana for 57 hours and have taken 2 breakthroughs

Avery

I'm not sure where else in neurotalk you have posted.

Or if you have gotten a reply. Some rooms are activer than
others. So if for some reason you still don't get anyone that
has any help.

I would like to make a suggestion. ONly because its a very welcoming
room. And you will get lots of responses and support.

In the bipolar room we talk to anyone that needs help. Or just support.

I'm a parent of kids that have issues. I am also a person that just needs
support for many health issues.

I came around and started posting about a grown son. Got some answers,
but stuck around because they helped support and lift me up when my
medical got so bad I needed it.

So please come join us if you need support.

Donna

Thanks Curious.

I can't figure those out. But I know as you do he will find lots of support
there.

Avery

Its not a chat room. But its somewhere you post and others post back.
Its very active at times. And we sometimes have 3 or 4 active threads going at a time. So you will get answers back.

Sometimes the chat rooms have people in them. So you can always look there too.

No, you are not a whimp, there are a lot of meds out there that you should taper off, I think Cymbalta is one of them. If you had to build up the dose to get on, you need to taper off the same way only in reverse. Hope you are doing better by now, and I don't blame you for wanting off the meds. I have TN and know what you've been going through. I went off all pain killer meds for the same reason, but am doing better today because I am seeing a Blair Technique Chiropractor and he realigned my axis, upper cervical manipulation, and it has done wonders for me. It realigns you body and lets it heal itself. There is a Blair Technique list on the computer put out by the Blair Technique institute. Shouldn't hurt to give it a try, miracles may happen for you too. Jan

I understand you grief, I have TN and went through the same side effects from meds. I am seeing a Blair Technique Chiropractor and the treatments have helped me a bunch. You can find one for yourself on line at the Blair Technique Chiropractic site. This technique realigns the axis of the upper cervical part of your body and lets the body heal itself. It took away the pain I was getting from Occipital Neuralgia, and lightened the pain from Trigeminal Neuralgia. Cymbalta is one drug that you need to taper off of not cold turkey off it. I know, I've done it before. Good luck in finding a miracle, the Blair T. was a miracle for me. Jan
