Default Hello All

Hi folks, my name is Cory and I'm obviously a newbie to these forums. I'm currently a graduate student at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where I'm majoring in Research Health Psychology. My 2006-2007 year I spent at the University of Texas-Dallas studying Applied Cognition and Neuroscience specializing in Neuroscience. My interests have turned me toward nueroendocrinology aspects of behavioral neuroscience but I've also had a warm fuzzy place in my heart for biological underpinnings of many disorders. I've spent some time researching Tourette's and hope to contribute to the "101" thread of that section.

When I'm not in class I work part time as a youth advisor for a local school district (I don't actually work for the school district, I'm contracted through a non-profit organization out of Austin).

I'm also a musician, a guitarist to be exact, although my band broke up early last year and my computer crashed last month and lost most of my recordings. I recently acquired some new recording software though and hope to have time to put together some new stuff soon.

So that's a bit about me, looking forward to talking with everyone.

Default Welcome to Neurotalk.

What have you working on, specifically, in the neuroendocrinology area? We hve a lot of people with suspected neurological problems relating to diabetes, thyroid, adrenal dysfunction . . .

jo55: I play mostly metal but also have a tendency to toss out some blues and southern rock riffs too.

Right now I'm starting work on salivary cortisol as it relates/correlates to perceived stress in young adults. This is a new area of interest for me since my previous interest involved the more general biological bases of mental disorders.
