Default Medication Help

Hello! My name is Craig. My 71 year old mother's mental health has quickly deteriorated over the past 6 to 12 months. I believe that a potential cause for this is some of the medication that she is taking.

I'm looking for help from an independent source to analyze her various meds and to help assess whether these could be creating issues. I have discussed these concerns with her M.D. at the small town office where he practices; however, seeking the counsel of the person who provided most of the prescriptions is a bit like the fox guarding the hen house.

If someone could let me know where I could go to have a detalied independent review of her meds performed, I would be very appreciative.

Thanks,
Craig

I think an outside second opinion of her "whole " condition would be required by most drs, and most likely a good idea. Her local dr may be missing something or in the habit of Rrxing meds with out a full diagnosis workup.
What are her diagnoses and what medications is she taking?

We do have online medication interaction links that you can compare the various meds for safety that way. here - http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread2864.html
Also our Medications forum- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum72.html

But otherwise it can be a individual reaction to the combo - some meds /combos work fine for some people and for some it doesn't.

Heart Sorry and welcome

Hi,
Welcome to Neurotalk, I am so sorry about what your mother is going through ((hugs))
Some medications CAN cause mental health problems. Have you had a look at the side effects of the drugs your mom is taking??
It might also help you to post a message on the 'medications' board on Neurotalk.

Please let me introduce myself:
My name is Alison, I am 12 years old and I suffer from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in my left leg and right arm.

Sorry that I can't help you further
Take care and give your mum a massive hug from me.
Alison
