Confused Hi I'm new here!!!!

I was wondering if I could get some advise...I was diagnosed with CIM in 2005, I was in a car accident and was experiencing a great deal of shoulder and neck pain, along with headaches. My doctor ordered an MRI, it came back with an accidental finding of CIM...I saw a neurosurgeon soon after who stated I was fine, and did not want to do anything...I was basically told to deal with the pain.
I have always had real bad headaches, and shoulder pain since I was a kid...my PCP had just told me they were migraines and gave me medicine. It has not worked, in fact my symptoms are more intense. I get real bad pressure headaches, I feel dizzy, and have vertigo feelings on a daily basis. The pain in my shoulder and neck gets so intense I get nauseous and have tingling in my hands and feet. I went to go see my PCP again (last week in fact), he ordered another MRI, the results came back that my CIM was the same as the last MRI done in 2005. He is sending me to a specialist, I want to know how to be more proactive and not just be told to deal with the pain. I know something is not right, and I am afraid they will just tell me to deal with it. Anyone have advice???

Welcome Ipronovost25,

I am sorry to hear about your pain.

Some of your symptoms sound like they could fit in a couple differnt categories but we have had some members on the TOS forum that have had some car accidents and resulting shoulder and neck pain that sounds similar.

Check out and do some reading on the TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome forum). Maybe it can help with some questions for when you see the specialist.

Here is the link. At the top of the forum we have some stickies that have some great information.

Good luck and keep us posted.
