Hi Everyone,
My name is Tina. I am 43 live in Grants Pass Oregon and am here on my daughters behalf. She is 19, and has some things going on with her that I suspect are neurological in nature. She is waiting to here from the Dr. about when her appointment with be with a local neurologist. In the mean time I would like to help the Dr. with some information. I am the type of person who does not sit back and let the Dr. try to figure out what is going on. We are our own advocates! So, I hope to glean some great information from this great group.

Default Welcome to Neurotalk.

Any particular areas you think you and the doctors should be looking at? You've probably noticed this is a big place, with a lot of subforums, and maybe we can help you narrow it down some.

Hi Tina and Welcome to our lil corner of the world. It's scary when our children are having health issues. I can relate to what you are going through, so all the better that you found us.

There are amazing people here and a wealth of info. As Glenn noted, let us know if we can help direct you.

Hi, Tina! Welcome to NeuroTalk!

You might benefit from using the search engine located in the toolbar near the top of every page. Punch in some symptoms to see which areas include similar discussions.

I visited GP, OR last fall and I loved it! What a charming area it is.

I am thinking that it has to do with the basal ganglia. I know nothing about the brain at this point. But I think this has to do with 'timing' of things in your body. And maybe it has to do with seritonin and dopamine? Her speech, heart and jerks all seem to be a timing thing. I don't know. My prayers is that someone will say ... Hey!! I had that exact same thing! This is what we discovered". Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Ali,
Well, at times and for a short time usually less than an hour, sometimes several times a day and sometimes there will be days or months between, she will have issues with jerking, racing heart and stuttering. It usually starts with the slight jerk of her head and then goes into the stuttering or the racing heart or both. We have taken her to the hospital on several occasions and she has had that medication that with put her heart back into rythem. She has been to the cardo, they found nothing wrong with her heart and put her on BP meds (not for BP) but to help the timing of her heart. It did keep the racing heart away, but goodness, she is only 19. We decided to take her off to see what would happen it it came back. Now we are waiting for an appointment with a neurologist. I would like to go in there with some good questions and expect some answers .. not just put her on meds.
I know this is going to be the best place. Thanks so much.

Yea! I LOVE Grants Pass! It snowed IN TOWN last night and I have got to tell you ... it is even more beautiful!! We live in town now, behind Walmart and there are almost no cars out. I am really enjoying it.
Next time you are in town, look me up. I have vacation rentals that my husband and I own and manage. Let me know, and I will post the link to my web site.
Thanks so much for the welcome. I am excited to be here.
