Default high blood pressure

Hello,everyone, my name is Ronnie, my wife came into my life and ever since then the world has been a better place , she has high blood pressure,she is taking a medication called metropol to lower it but even after taking it regularly it is still in the stage 1 hypertension field.What else or other medication can I use or do to help lower it? My ten year anniversary is on Feb.14.
