Default What can be wrong with me

For the past month or so i have been experiencing weird sensations, aches pains and numbness all on my right side

The right side of my face feels numb. I can feel it but just not properly. My eye has been sore and aching and i swear the pupil is a bit smaller than my left eye although my vision is fine. I get ear and jaw ache in the right side of my face too. I have no loss of movement or drooping in it.

My arm keeps hurting right down to my wrist and my fingers sometimes hurt and feel stiff to move although they aren't. Sometimes i get a little numb patch just above my wrist

My leg keeps hurting too right from my hip all the way down and i sometimes get a numb patch below my knee on my shin.

I saw my GP who sent me to a neurologist who i saw last week. He did the general tests, looking in my eyes, reflexes, tested strength etc etc all looked good to him and he didn't know what was causing it but does not think it is sinister but has scheduled me for an MRI to make sure and also for my piece of mind but it could be 2 months before i get it because of the waiting list and im 'non urgent'.

Just earlier i got like an awful type of sharp pain and felt like something was crawling on the right side of my head which lasted about 30 seconds.

I had these symptoms last year too in october, they lasted about 4/6 weeks then just went away, i got no real diagnosis.
This time the symptoms have been here since about a week into the new year

I am 22 female and otherwise healthy and have no family history of anything major. I am mainly scared of having a brain tumour or MS. I am getting really upset and worried about this

Hello Scooter and welcome to the site.

From what you say about your face pain, Trigeminal Neuralgia seems a definite possibility. This is an extremely painful inflammation of one, two or three of the trigeminal nerves on the face. If this is the cause, T.N. can be successfully treated with a short course of steroids (cortisone).

Unfortunately there are many illnesses that all have similar symptoms to what you're explaining and MRI would be the best way to find an answer. It's very unfortunate that you have to wait so long for your scan appointment.

I know how scary it is waiting for results, and it's hard not to think the worst. I was diagnosed with MS after the initial possibility of a brain tumor. I was overjoyed when I got my diagnosis, because MS is not a death sentence and was certainly a much better diagnosis/prognosis than the other.

Try to remember that only a small percentage of people with MS progress to the stage which you probably have fixed in your head right now. I was diagnosed 30 years and six months ago, and I've only just given up my job as a Registered Nurse in a busy Critical Care department.

Other diseases also mimic MS Scooter, so try not to worry too much (yes I know.....easier said than done)! Just remember we're here, and more than happy to talk with you about your concerns.

Thank you everyone for my welcomes and the advice
I saw my GP last night who says he doesn't want to do anything until we get the scan results in and the only thing that came to his mind was ms but he says not very likely....He thinks more likely than not they will not come up for a reason for it but they will be able to rule out what it is not. He said the neuro i saw would have said straight out if he was worried about anything which to me he said he was not and the mri was simply for my piece of mind and his...
I dont really know what to think and i just want to get this scan done!

I am glad i found this forum
