Default Hello all

Hi there, I'm brand new here. I have peripheral parasthesia, I think that's the right term. Pins and needles in hands and feet and weakness in my hands. This is from the anti biotics I was taking over a 3 month period. Apparently it's one of the side effects and is well documented, I can't believe that Dr's can prescribe this still. I was diagnosed only a few days ago. So far I have gone from tingling to weakness. I am told that long term, that most people make a full recovery - so that's great news. I have also been told to keep an eye on my nutrition and go for less gym workouts. I currently am a bit of a fitness freak, so I will be backing off a little and following Dr's orders.

I'm 30, currently living in Dubai, but due to move out to the Caribbean at the end of March. Which will be great. oooh typing with weak hands is quite hard.

Ok, so just thought I'd introduce myself. Good to meet you all. I'm looking forward to talking with some people here on this site.

Thanks for your time

Hayley

Default Welcome to Neurotalk.

One thing you might want to make sure of is that these neuropathy symptoms are actually due to the antibiotic reaction--certainly possible--and that there are no other conditions that might be resulting in these symptoms.

Feel free to come on over to our Peripheral Neuropathy section:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=20

Lot of knowledge and empathy over there, as well as several protocols for investigation of neural symptoms.

Hi Haley and Welcome to NeuroTalk! Please take a look around and give us a holler if you need anything. I see Glenn has given you some directions, so make yourself at home. Dubai??? I'm jealous...we are having one of the worst Winters on record here in Illinois.....

This lil mouse is just for you.....

Default thanks folks

Hi folks, many thanks for your replies, you are all super friendly and helpfull. I have been taking a look around the forums and it seems that this site is a great resource for support, both offering and receiving.

Yep, it's pretty toasty here in Dubai. I'm only here for a few more weeks though, then off to the Caribbean to live.

The Dr's have done a few tests on me, they seem pretty conclusive. No diabetes, no vitamin deficiency. I have started taking multivits and also calcium / magnesium as the Neuro said that they may help. I will check out your links though.

One thing that the Dr's didn't tell me, was whether it's a good idea to exersice or not. I really enjoy sports and wanted to know whether any of you have any advice on whether light / moderate / high intensity gym or other is ok still. I am eating plenty and have decided to quit any alcohol for now (was a social drinker - nothing much). So I am hoping that the nerves are going to recover, positivity seems to be so important, I was really down last week, but have managed to get my head around it a little bit now.

Anyways, I'm babbling. Thanks again for your replies. If you have any advice regarding working out - that would be great.

All the best Hayley
