Default lower back pain

Hello All,
I guess I would like to start out by saying that I am glad that there is even a place to go on the net to discuss different treatments and to know that you are not alone. Thank all of you.
I have been suffereing from lower back problems since an accident I was in in June 1998. I have done all of the PT, all of the injections, and major amounts of meds, but nothing seams to help. Well I should not say that. Actually they pretty much all have helped but only for a short period of time, then it is back to the same old thing.
A surgeon looked at it in 2002 and wanted to operate on me, not only was I a little scared, but I was afraid to be off of work for too long. Well after years of pain and suffering and the fact that I got off of the pain meds in sept 2006. I decided that it was time so I went to a different surgeon, one that my new doctor had recommended. and he had told me that he could fix the herniated disks, but that would not help the pain that much because I have skeletal muscular tears? whatever that means. I just don't know what to do. I really don't want to get back on pain meds, but I can't live my life like this either. Any Ideas? Suggestions?!

Hi Brianand !!!

I'm sorry you are dealing with such pain. I admit that I know nothing about skeletal muscular tears. That sounds quite painful.

Have you ever tried or considered acupuncture for your pain? I know the thought of acupuncture for some is scary in its self.... but I can tell you from experience that it's not that bad and does provide pain relief for many.

I hope to see you around the boards. If you have any questions or we can be of help please let us know.
