Confused newly diagnosed with ARC

Hello evryone. Sorry to meet you in such unfortunate circumstance for all of us. I am almost 2 months out from disectomy surgery with dural tear and csf leak. after complianing to my surgeon for a month, I finally requested another MRI. When he reviewed it, he wrote down Arachnoiditis on a piece of paper, told me to take these steroids and it should "clear it up". After researching it on the internet, I have found nothing supporting the idea that it will "clear up". when I informed him of what I had read (no cure, progressively gets worse, disability, lifelong pain mgmt, etc) he acts like I am crazy. Of course I want to believe that he is correct, but I have not found 1 thing to support his answer. He says it was definitely nothing that he did. has ANYONE EVER heard of it clearing up??? He acts like the progressive form of ARC is rare. Not sure that I believe anything he says. Could it be caused by my SCF leak? It was leaking through my incision and instead of going beack in to repair it, he just stitched my incision tighter so it would not come throguh the skin. Is this considered conservative treatment??? Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Know of any good PM doctors around TN that are familiar with ARC.
Wishing you all the best.
Paul
