Hi there Alices, and welcome to NeuroTalk. I'm so sorry to hear of your daughter's suffering, but pleased you came to us for advice.

I've not had Occipital Neuralgia myself but it sounds extremely painful.

If you haven't already found our Trigeminal Neuralgia Forum, here's the link: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum26.html

Maybe one of the lovely people in that forum can give you the information that you seek.

Another Forum you could try is the Headache Forum as there have been members there in the past who've posted about ON. Here's the link for that forum : http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum32.html

Good luck Alices. I hope you find the help you're seeking.

I have a snapped trigeminal nerve so I supose the pain would be pretty near much like a nerve that has been cut. so I can realte to that most definatly. and if you want to share talk about that well I am here and willing to help and offer support to you and your daughter.
Neuro talk is a great site filled with many kind caring funny people that are ready to support and give info and listen. so I hope you find neuro talk as awesome as I do. and I am glad you found your way here. we have a care givers forum and many ohers that you might find fun and or helpfull so scroll the index and jump in anytime anywhere.
Many blessings to you and your daughter&family.

hello alice welcome to the boards,

I get that but so far, the most i am going to do is the injection , they cut the nerve and she is still having pain? not to second guess a doc but they cut correct nerve?

you may find some folks in the headache section that may be able to shed some light on this, thats where i found some answers for myself. I hope something can be done soon for her, i went 15 days with it I can not imagine what she must be dealing with.

i see someone mention jamie she helped me, along with a few others, there are some really helpful wonderful people on here, I hope your daughter feels better real soon

Hi & welcome
There are quite a few of us suffering from "occipital neuralgia" but i don`t think anyone has had surgery,
look on occipital neuralgia site if not that then trigemenial neuralgia.
i have "occipital" caused by 2 brain tumours appart from pain meds am having
nerve blocks every 8 wks.
site could be under "nerve blocks"
all the best
