Default What could it be

My 13 year old granddaughter has been having tests done recently for losing sight in her right eye. It started in January of this year. She was diagnosed with dyplopia by an optometrist. Later confirmed by her M.D. She was then sent to an eye specialist and by that time her left eye improved and her right eye was worse..seeing only shapes and colours. This doctor did eye tests and send her to another eye specialist who couldn't find a cause through his tests also. He suggested a diabetes test. This came out negative. Her M.D. sent her for an MRI on her spine and head...thinking it might be M.S. This also came out negative. Her sensation of taste has now changed and she says nothing tastes the same as it used to or it tastes bitter. She has sore weak muscles, gets heart pain, sometimes hard to breathe and various other symptoms. She will be going to her M.D. again tomorrow and then the first eye specialist the next day to have a field of vision test. My thoughts on this is that she should see a pediatrician, an oncologist, an internal specialist and a neurologist...just how long this will take I don't know. I'm worried that she may have a tumor somewhere in her brain that didn't show up on the MRI. I have read that sometimes a pituitary tumor will only show on a catscan. Today during her classes at school all of a sudden she felt dizzy and then her good eye went like her bad eye. She said that after a few minutes it went back to normal and then her bad eye was worse. I'm so worried about her....any feedback would be great.

Hi there Rozy, and hugs for all you're doing for your grand-daughter.

I'm so sorry for the scary things you've all been going through lately.

As an adult with MS I'm so pleased that your grand-daughter tested negative for that.

Unfortunately I don't know what her problems might indicate, so I'm giving you the link to our Children's Forum as a starter.: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum9.html

Have a look around though, you might find another forum that'll suit you better.

Hi Rozy and welcome to NeuroTalk. I'm so sorry your granddaughter is having these problems. I know it must be frustrating to wait while the doctors try to figure things out.

Please feel free to join in anywhere - there are lots of fantastic people here!

Hi, Rozy! Welcome to NeuroTalk!

How awful for your granddaughter. I hope she'll have some answers soon.
