Hi from Lorrie

I had a spinal fusion done last year at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
My surgeon was Dr> Alexander Vacarro of the Rothman Institute.

I had known for many years I had to have surgery on my neck due probably to a congenital birth defect or maybe from my primary disability.

My c-spine curved had reversed and I had a swan neck deformity.
Dr. Vacarro had also operated on my l4-l5 spine in 2005.
The surgery was a splendid success.
I went from using a walker and wheelchair to complete independence.

I did have some long-sustained issues after my cervicle surgery which I
understood could be an issue, but I am doing better although I hate the creaks in my neck.

I go for check-ups with Dr. Vacarro who was very diligent and perceptive when I first saw him in the fall of 2005.

IF anyone else ever touched me rather than Dr. Vacarro, I'd be quite unhappy.

I am glad to be here.

Hello Lorrie, and welcome to NeuroTalk.

I'm sorry to hear about the back and neck problems that you've had, but what a wonderful attitude you have. Not everyone praises their surgeon, so your's must have been excellent.

Here's the link to our Spinal Disorders Forum, but have a look around and join in where-ever you feel comfortable. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum22.html
