Default Newbie Here :-)

Hi. I have known for a long time that I've had a sleeping disorder, but I just came from my doctor and he told me I have a disorder... I just wish I could remember the name of it! The doc wrote it down on the form I handed to the secretary after my appt, but I forgot to ask for a copy.. Duh! Anyway, my name is Suzy, I am a 44yo wife and mom of 3 boys, well actually men.. My oldest is 22, middle is 19 and my baby is almost 18!!! Yikes! Wow, just raising them made me tired!! LOL. I also have a movement disorder, which is a neurological disorder, 2nd to Parkinson's Disorder. It's called Cervical Dystonia, and it affects my neck and it's positions. My doctor also said that a lot of the meds I am on could make me tired. The meds he said that could make me tired are: Neurontin, Flexeril, Benadryl, MS Contin and Tigan, which is an anti-nausea medication and also taken as prn (as needed). I also have bi-polar disorder, also known as manic depression... Well, just wanted to introduce myself...

p.s. Could someone explain to me what a "tag" is? It said I could add 5 tags to this thread, whatever that means. lol Thanks!!

Hello Suzy and welcome to NeuroTalk.

Our site has recently undergone an upgrade and "tag" was something that appeared after that occurred. I have my own idea as to what it means, but so I don't give you wrong information, I'll leave the explaining to one of our experts.

With your being unable to remember the name of the disorder that your doctor has diagnosed, would it be an option to phone the surgery and ask his office assistant to get the name for you? Maybe they'll ask the doctor for you if they have no access to your records themself.

We have a Parkinson's Forum and an excellent Medications Forum if you have any questions in those areas. Here are the links to both of them, and I look forward to meeting up with around the site.

Hi Suzy! First of all, welcome, welcome! Glad you found us!

Do you have sleep apnea? I do, and quit breathing for minute/s at a time during the night, so wear a breathing device called a CPAP.

And finally, go to the bar at the top of the page and click on "Search." That will allow you the option to search out "tags". Some are silly (I could name names...), but there are some helpful ones too, depending on what information you are searching for; e.g.: "handicap," "wheelchair," etc. etc. (Sorry so negative, just the ones that came to mind).

How do you feel about having an "empty nest?" We haven't quit celebrating!!!

Hello and Welcome!!!!!

I did some searching on the "tags" thingy...

When you start a "new thread" there is a section directly under the main area... that says:

Tags
Separate tags using a comma.
You may add 5 tag(s) to this thread.

You can put in keywords that can be searched under the "Search---Tag Search section"... ie... get together, wheelchairs, party.

Only when a New thread is started can you put "tags".

Hope this helps...

Abbie
