First Hi,
my name is Rhiannon. I have bi-lateral TL E. reflex/abdominal E, photosenstive E. I had been having real problems with break through seizures. Then all of a sudden the day time seizures seemed to slow down, and at night time when I am completely and totally sleeping, my husband says that I start full on conversations, I cry, laugh, am very animated, use terribly inapprpriate language and act out the things I am obviously dreaming about. I have spent all night using the bedoom as a kitchen and cooking a roast for 12 people; setting the table, making gravy, making icecream cake. I do want to get it sorted out, but I am at present having problems with agoraphobia and can't leave the house. I am taking meds for that anxiety and panic disorder as well...but this other night time behavior has only been very recent, like weeks...can anyone explain to me what is happening please? |

Wow, you most certainly have a lot of stuff going on don't you.
For whatever reason, your innermost thoughts, desires, etc, are manifesting themseves during your sleep cycle. What does your doctor say about this?? Perhaps the meds that you are on, are contributing to what's happening during the night? I know that more knowledgable people will hop on board and welcome you and direct you to the proper forums. I just wanted to extend my hand in welcome and say: Hi. Welcome to Neurotalks. Take care, Melody

It doesn't seem that your problem would be so bad if it only happened once in a long while. But if its happening all that frequently, it has to be robbing you of real sleep. I'd suspect that some unresolved feeling you have is causing it. I do remember, though, that when my oldest daughter was four she liked to sneak into our bed at night, and she and her mother would actually have complete, drawn-out conversations while they were both asleep. It amazed me, and didn't seem possible, but no harm ever came from it.
I hope you find whatever it is that's disturbing you subconsciously, and robbing you of sleep. Good luck and best wishes! ![]() |

Hello RhiannonsMoon and welcome to Neurotalk.
I wish I had some magic answers for you but I don't. I'm no expert but I was wondering if these events may not be some sort of Petit Mal Seizure? You don't menton what, if any, medical intervention you've been having, so I thought I'd start with giing you the link to our Epilepsy Forum and hope that some of the members there will be able to offer you a little more than I can. Here's that link: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum11.html ![]()

Thank You Melody, I appreciate your welcome. My husband says I also seize when I am sleeping. The GP believes I am just having TL seizures at night, and says that there is something going on with interuption to the sleep pattern either somnambulism, or confusional arousal; which he beleives I could not be having. he beleives I am too old and that only children have those issues. I am now myoclonic during the day... I am confused though. After being told of the sleepwalking and confusional arousal; then the myoclonic siezures starting...I wonder if I am having a 2nd childhood...lol ...I am a patient person so I will see if I can get information from here to take to my GP, and hopefully he will suggest this site to his other patients Thank You again Melody, your time is appereciated |

That's what we are all here for. To help you when you need it.
What meds (if any),are you on? (If you don't mind my asking). Just curious. Now let's talk about somnambulism. Sleepwalking. A favorite topic of mine, only because I did it when I was a child. Of course I had no memory of it. Only what I put my mother through. I had to be over the age of 10 because we lived in Canarsie and we moved there when I was 10, and I remember having a conversation with my mother about what happened and the conversation was in the living room of the Canarsie Apartment. So perhaps I was 11 or so when this happened. I had watched a monster movie before I went to bed (after this, my mother NEVER let me watch any of this kind of movie). I got up in the middle of the night and went out the front door (I was wearing a long nightgown). I walked down to the corner. My mother (hearing the loor lock opening, followed me to the corner. She had once read where you should never shake anyone awake when they are sleepwalking ( I have no idea if this is what you should do, or shouldn't do). She told me she quietly took my hand, I looked her dead in the face and I said "Mother, where were you, I was looking for you". She just gently took me back to our apartment and I went to sleep. SHE DID NOT GO TO SLEEP. She watched me all night. The next night she said she was sitting by my bed and she watched me start to get out of bed. She just gently pushed me back and I never did it again. Holy Cow, I just remembered all of this. I don't remember the sleepwalking part of it, only what she told me. She told me she really never slept good after that. She was always worried I'd go down to the corner again. I never did. How odd!!! Anyway, I hope you get some answers. Melody
