Default Numbness in tongue / face

Hi, this is my first time here, and I figured I'd post my issues. I'm a 34 yr old male. About 1 1/2 weeks ago I started getting white painful bumps on my tongue, they came and went almost daily, then about a week ago the tip of my tongue started going numb, then the left side of my jaw and face started 'falling asleep', sometimes it's worse then others. I am also having very dry mouth as well. On 8-1, I went to my dentist who did a screening, I just recently quit chewing tobacco, and could not find anything wrong, so they sent me to an oral surgeon. I went to the oral surgeon today, and she did not see anything abnormal in my mouth or on the x-rays, I do have an impacted wisdom tooth, on the top left. I also went to my primary care Dr. on 8-1, and she thought maybe it could be a virus in the herpes family and put me on anti-virus med. which hasn't helped at all.
I am also having occasional tingling in my left arm, last 2 fingers on that hand and lower forearm.
Sorry for the length of the post...anybody have any suggestions for me??

Welcome Baumer!!!

I get the tongue sx on a smaller scale. It always feels like I burned the tip of it on a hot pizza or something!

Sorry I can't help. Glad you found us, though. I'm sure someone will have some good input.

Your description reminds me of when my immune system was totally over-taxed with allergies; I'm allergic to alfalfa (sp?) and hay. I had white spots throughout my mouth. The nodes were all inflamed.

An ENT doc, an Internal Med. doc., etc., might fare better in getting to the root of the prob.

P.S.: I just re-read your post and see you stated the spots have come and gone; with my allergy-related spots, they only increased but didn't go away until after heavy doses of allergy med.

Dry mouth, it made me think of Sjögren's Syndrome... or possibly a form of shingles, which is in the herpes zooster "family."

Thanks everybody for all the welcomes!
I went back to my primary care Dr. today and she thinks that I may have trigeminal neuralgia. She put me on some med's and made a referral to the Neurologist. I don't know, I just looked it up and the common symptom of that is facial pain, I have no pain, or very little, my problem is numbness and tingling / burning sensation.

The bumps on your tongue? That I know of, those wouldn't be associated with TN.

Numbness and tingling? Yes.

Those were the symptoms I had when my neurosurgeon and neurologist dx'd TN. It took a few years for the effects of mine to lessen, but, finally it did happen .

Too, there is a forum here for TN:
