Red face Numbness In Leftside Of Face, Tongue, And Right Thigh

Hello Everyone...my Numbness Is My Face Started In September 2006 After I Had Shingles...i've Had An Mri, Spinal Tap And Both Came Back Normal...i've Gone To 2 Neurologist And They Think Its Tri-neuralgia...i'm Currently Taking Gababentin 600 Mg Twice A Day, Sometime 3 Times A Day...it Does Calm The Nerve Down Some, However, If I Don't Take It My Leftside Of My Face Feels Like Little Spiders Are Crawling Under My Skin And My Leftside Of My Tongue Feels Frozen And A New Symptom Has Appeared...when I Lie On My Back, My Right Thigh Goes Numb...

After Reading Alittle More, I'm Starting To Think I Might Be Having Mini Strokes...

Is Anyone Out There Experiencing Anything Like This?

Arrow welcome dear jack

hello jack,
WELCOME to Neurotalk....

dear Jack,

first I must tell you - I am not a doctor - I am a 15 year young onset Parkinson's disease patient -all I can do is help you research what you may wish to research...
and I promote no certain products by which I will profit...

I do not believe you have Bell's Palsy have a niece that has that
Shingles – Shingles is NOT associated with Bells Palsy.
If you have been diagnosed with Bells Palsy and develop shingles then go straight to your doctor as this may infer that you actually have Ramsey Hunt Syndrome instead of Bells Palsy and a different treatment will be offered.

I am just researching abit for you...
I am sorry that you are in pain, shingles can cause alot of bad pain -
for a long while - lysine is what I have usually heard helps you heal
read this small article

Lysine for Shingles -
http://www.home-remedy.org/shingles-treatment.html
or
http://www.holisticonline.com/remedi...es_vitamin.htm
and
http://www.healingwithnutrition.com/...id.html#Lysine

Lysine is actually a good amino acid to take if you have shingles or the herpes zoster virus in your body because this virus does not like lysine,

but in contrast, it thrives in the presence of arginine

Arginine has been suspected in the formation of cold sores. Some practitioners suggest that consuming foods high in arginine, such as nuts, grains, and chocolates, can promote cold sores. Reducing intake of foods high in arginine and increasing intake of lysine (another amino acid) can reduce or even eliminate the cold sore problem.

Allopathic medicine:
The system of medical practice which treats disease by the use of remedies which produce effects different from those produced by the disease under treatment. MDs practice allopathic medicine. Also called conventional medicine.

I had the same problem, numbness plus swelling of face and ankles, after CT Scan they found out that I had ruptured and artery, and that led to Ischemic attacks. Other tests showed I had a weak heart muscle. Am now on heart and BP treatment, but have been advised that i'l have to live with the numbness.
