A BIG HOWDY DOOO!
I am so happy to find this board. I have been suffering with peripheral neuropathy since 2001 and seem to be not having luck with finding a doctor locally that can help me. I live in Central Florida and go to a rather large clinic here and with the three docs I see (internist, PM, and neuro), they all refuse to take my med treatment any higher than I am now. They've all agreed independently that I should contact pain mangaement at USF in Tampa. The last doc I saw on the 17th and he was my last hope. He agreed about USF. Said he can't help me anymore. I have a spinal cord stimulator for my feet/legs since 2003. I take 6000 mg daily (prescribed) of neurontin (I've increased it myself the 6000 mg prescribed to sometimes 3600 more daily). I of course told my neuro this Wednesday he raised an eyebrow but didn't reprimand me. He already told me that 6000 was safe as it does not affect my liver or kidneys nor counteract any of the other many meds I take. I also take a total of 4 Darvocet at 6 hr increments (dividing the original 6000 into 4 doses). I take 100 mg amitriptylin at night as well as 100 mg trazadone at 8 pm and again at 2 am. (These are all for the pain). I also have had severe hypothryoid which catapulted me right into cholesterol and high blood pressure. I take a total of 10 to 13 meds daily. I also was diagnosted with diabetes II (AFTER I was diagnosed with neuropathy. This is a lot at once but my hands are working fairly good at the moment and I'm not having a lot of typos ![]() ![]() ![]() I have been through so much since all this started but Ill get to a lot of that with time (if anyone wants to "hear" it). that's one of the reasons that I was happy to find this place. I've lost most of my friends by not working and others moving on. I'm somewhat lonesome. I have my mom and one sister who lives near and her family. I have a nephew, 26, living with me and mom. I am a member of a different board and it moves really fast, just as this one seems to. But after being there two years, I know that what I have to say many times is considered whining by many and I don't get the support I am looking for and need. I hope I've found the right place. I'll probably copy this on my first opening thread and add more. My name is Ronnelle and I am 50 years old. Thank you for being here. Thank you for letting me be here. ![]() |
