Default Cerebrospinal Fluid Rhinorrhea

I slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk on January 26, 2009 while I was away some training for my job. I hit the sidewalk straight on with the back of my head, my neck hit the curb and my feet slid out on the road. I am 52, female 5 feet 8 in and about 200 pounds. It was alot of weight to put on my head. I saw black for a few seconds. Friends tried to help me up and I just needed to slay on the cold cement for a couple minutes. I thought it was just my pride that was broken. I applied ice and it wasn't even 5 minutes my nose began to run water out tinted with blood. My firend said ut oh and I told the instructor I think I need to go to the hospital. I did. I had a large goose egg about 6 inches across, 4 inches up and it raised over 1-2 inches. They did CAT scan and doc thought everything was ok, but stated that he saw on the scan that I had sinusitus and prescribed a Z pac. As I began to stand up I was asked if I ws dizzy and I said no. But then my foot hit the floor, I experienced something like a room on a teeder totter. The right side of the room lifted up and felt like it was tipping over on me. After awhile I was ok and just had a headaches nd was fiuzzy and a little dizzy. Doc said I needed to be awaoken a few times during the night. I stayed for training and drove home on Friday. I felt wierd all week and had pains aches and that watery drip going down my throat. I stopped at my regular doctors after driving 140 miles home...I felt like I was stuck in stare all the way home. I told the dr I was concerned because I had aches and pains nd didn't feel right. he got the test rests from the ER I used and said he believed it was Cerebrospinal Fluid Rhinorrhea and had contacted a ENT dr. He said not to cough, blow my nose, strain in a BM and sit up and sleep. If I didn't feel better to come back in on Monday because he wanted me to see the ENT specialist. He sid I didn't have sinusitis but said the fluid was leaking from my brain area. Said when I fell it threw my brain forwrd and back and caused a tear. It's saturday night now and I have a nasty headace, dizzy and worreid about monday. I feel like I can't concentrate on anything and feel somewhat confused, and a little off balance. I am just worried and thought maybe someone could explain all these physical feelings...

Default welcome

welcome k

sounds like you may have a leak, as I do, rest is so important after a head injury, here,s a link to an info site

http://www.cerebrospinalfluidresearc.../1/10#IDAE4UID

most leaks seal them selfs, within 10 days, there is a risk of meningitis also, so limit risk by not catching colds ect

any help i can give pm me or post in the sub forum

Default welcome to NeuroTalk

I understand some of your symptoms, as I have hurt my head and am dizzy at times too. I hope that you find the answers you need. I wish all the best, and I am new as well---we both will learn more from this site.
