Default Strange Neuropathy issue

First of hello. I finally found a forum so hopefully someone might be able to get me moving in a direction that might help me. It is good to know that I am not the only one who is going through this stuff.

Here is the deal. I started a new job in July where I sit for about 10 hours a day. I noticed that my rear end muscles got really sore and it was hard to sit. After a while though that pain sort of subsided but I noticed that my back seat was start to burn when I sat. Over the next couple of months I noticed tingling and burning in both my legs. Then a few months later I felt tingling and burning in my arms. I have been to 2 neurologist, been through 2 nerve conduction tests, 2 mri's one on the back and one on the brain. The brain MRI was negative and the back MRI only should disc degeneration. I just had a fasting blood test done and it came back normal except my cholesteral was high. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that my feet are being affected by the tingling and burning. My right foot will get really cold to the point that it hurts. This is driving my crazy. I am taking 1200mg of neurotin currently and just started taking some cholesteral lowering medication. Just wanting to know if the sitting is causing this issue. No one else I work with seems to have the problem just me

Hello Jay... Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I think you should start posting on our Peripheral Neuropathy forum.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...aysprune=&f=20

You might try getting some cushions to customize your
chair. When I was working in a cubicle job, everyone had various tricks to customize their chairs so that there would
be little stress to the legs or back.

Statins used for cholesterol, have a side effect of affecting the nerves. So it is possible they may make your nerve pain worse.

Please post at PN and tell more about yourself. Your age, whether you have had antibiotics recently, and other health issues.

See you there!

Glad you found NT. We'll try to help you sort things out.

It's difficult to find answers. it takes time. If you have limbs that are cold, you will have to warm that back up. I sit around with throws or blankets over my left shoulder. It looks stupid in the summertime, but it helps tremendously with my pain level. When it warms up I take the blankie off till I need it again. There are medications like Neurontin and Lyrica, I'm sure more, that might help that. watch out for side effects.

When you try new things, give it time to help. There's usually side effects to everything. Be aware of it, note it if you need to, but give it time.

Hi jaydog, and welcome to NeuroTalk! I'm so glad you found us. This is such a great place to hang out with lots and lots of good, caring people, and many different forums.

I was having a problem sitting for long stretches in the car until I put a firm lawn chair cushion on the seat. That cured my problem. You can probably request any type of ergonomic pillow, or even a different chair at work. Best of luck to you.

I find that if I sit in a chair with an opening in the area of the lower back, and one that's upright, not that I can sink back into, that helps tremendously. You might try that, too.
