Default medical Question
I have a medical question for the group. I'm having a CT Scan tomorrow, and my question is, is a CT scan better or worse than having a MRI to pick up nerve damage from my back pain, or from having RSD?

Just my thoughts...

A MRI is much better and safer for soft tissues. Not the best for bone, though. Your doc may be looking for bony issues that are irritating or impinging on soft tissues. You doc or nurs should be comfortable in discussing the choice since both tests are rather expensive.

An MRI can show more of the tissues and ligaments than a CT can from what I have heard. A CT is more of your brain and if you already had a MRI they must be doing a CT to cover all aspects I would think. I don't think one is safer or more harmful than the other. They are both test that tell the doctor's different things or the same things at times so i wouldn't be to worried.
