hello, I am new to this site I am a 43 M. I have used cannibas for a while ( small amounts ) and unfortunaley abused this drug ( 2 to 3 joints a day strong cannibas during a 6 month bing..) and now have pn in both my feet. painfull . I went to a nuro doc and blood test are ok. I have tried to find out if my excessive use of cannibas caused this ? . will it go away? . I stopped smoking 3 months ago...I really feel this is the cause of my pn. any feedback would be appreciated. so far all I see is smoking cannibas is relief.... not for me anymore...

Hi pbrown. Just about anything seems possible but that never happened to me. I hope someone comes along who can shed some light. This is a wonderful community.
It's nice to meet you. I hope you find an answer.

Hi pbrown, and welcome to NT. I don't have an answer for you. I know that smoking can cause pn. It would stand to reason that smoking cannibis could cause it in some sensitive individuals. Some people are more sensitive to some elements than others. What is poison to you, might not be to others. I have a friend who ended up with pn from drinking alcohol in small amounts.
We have a great PN forum, and you might want to check out our Vitamins and Nutrients forum to help you deal with the pn. Take care, and hope to see you around the boards.

While medical use of marijuana is increasing in acceptance,
I still worry about contaminants. PN can be caused by toxic exposures. And marijuana may be contaminated with Pesticides or other chemicals while grown, or prepared for sale. With no clue as to what or how much is contaminated, the question remains as to potential toxicities, IMO.

Hi pbrown, and welcome to NeuroTalk! This is a nice place to hang out, with lots of friendly and helpful people! We're so glad you found us! Here is a link to the Peripheral Neuropathy forum, if you haven't found it already. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html I don't know about marijuana causing PN, but what the others have said about it sure makes sense to me.

A big hug for you. This is a great subject to entertain. I appreciate your coming out with this and opening up a door to explore its potential to relieve pain, its risks, its negatives. On another subject we had a while back, it was suggested that if you wanted to remain anonymously to PM (private message) me and I'd post it. Not sure how or if I'm allowed to do that but let us know out there what you think about it. But remember, don't post anything on the internet you wouldn't want to whole world to see. ...hard drives retain info and links. I would think any chemical introduced into our body will have a reaction(s). If you read the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) on FDA approved drugs you'll see what their studies have proved. scary...
