Help rhyzotomy or radiofrequency lesioning

I am scheduled to have this done in a week. Has anyone had this done? Does it hurt? I'd like to hear your experiences please!

Hi PrarieGirl,

I haven't had it done in the neck but have had two of them done in the lumbar. And no, neither time did it hurt BECAUSE the doc will give you plenty of Versed or something similar. I can't vouch for the neck and wish I could but I have talked to others who said the procedure didn't hurt them either. Actually, it was easier on me than any injection. Just make sure you know the risks and be prepared for an increase in pain afterwards which is common. Good luck with it and I hope it helps...it did me. Oh, and I should have added that the doc wanted to do one in my neck 8 years ago but since I needed a fusion anyway, I opted out.

I will be having it in the neck (base of my skull?) for my ON. I see my pain specialist today for my weekly freezing injection, so I will ask her about it again, just to clairfy.

I do have good drugs if I have pain after-she gave me a bottle of hydromorphone and it seems to work fairly well.

I am just nervous about getting panicky while they are doing it. Something about lying face down while someone messes with your head/neck is freaky. Just thinking about it makes me anxious.
