can occipiyal neuralgia be diagnosed thru mri without the intense head/eye pain present?

I'm not a doctor, but to my knowledge, anesthetic blocks are used to diagnose the condition.

I had an MRI before having any blocks or treatment. I'm not an expert, but I guess they could see what they were looking for!
