Default On SyFy Channel tonight?

I am absolutely flabbergasted that they made a movie, showing it TONIGHT, and it's on the SyFy Channel.

The name?

PRINCESS OF MARS.

Now even I didn't make the connection. It's been over 40 years since I read all the Edgar Rice Burroughs Martian books. And when I say I read them all, I READ THEM ALL. On the way to work, every morning, and on the way home. I went through the whole Martial Series.

So here I am having breakfast this morning at my local coffee shop and I happen to see "On SyFy tonight, Princess of Mars.

I did NOT make the connection.

I go on the internet, look it up and I see people are posting about John Carter and Dejah Thoris, and a BELL GOES OFF IN MY HEAD and I said 'oh no, this IS the BOOK, these are the characters from the Burroughs martian books.

I even remembered the planet called Barsoon, and planet called Helium.

And I remember reading a book that had a character called Carthoris (the son of John Carter and Dejah Thoris.

To say I am going to enjoy watching ANTONIO SABATO Jr. playing John Carter, is putting it mildly.

I'd enjoy him in ANYTHING.

But they made a movie out of something I read over 40 years ago, and I never thought I would see this. And I also read they are making another adaptation on the big screen in 2012.

Holy Cow.

I feel like I'm 18 years old again. This is so COOOOOOOOOOL!!!

lol

Thumbs up

Oh I will have to tell my husband. He has all those books!

I read a few. You know the artist who did those covers? He recently passed away!

--note-- hubby says he always watches the first few minutes of the Sat nite SciFi movie with Tippy who sits on his lap. Surprisingly she likes the mega worms, cannibals, and other monsters. Typically he says that time slot is a wasteland ...but he is going to give it 15minutes! I'll try to stay up for it, but no guarantees. Anthony Sabato does not "move" him much. We remember him from the series Earth 2-- he got his start from that one.

You must come back and give a review tho, in case I crash and miss it. (after working in this humid heat I am pretty washed out).

But yes, this is a blast from a long ago past! LOL
Thanks for posting it!

Here is what a review on IMDB says: 3 stars out of 10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1531911/

Still it might be entertaining ...

Hi Mrs. D. I am recording this movie on 2 vcr's in case one doesn't turn out. And I will definitely tell you all about it. Your husband will LOVE hearing about this movie. I remember all the books like it was yesterday.

No one reads anymore. They use kindle and IPADSs etc. I wonder what they'll do with all the books left over in the world.

Reminds me of Fahrenheit 451 with Oscar Werner. No one was allowed to read.

Remember that movie?
