This is the funniest thing I have ever done.

I answered all the questions.

My end result is that it suggests I'll live to 97

I'll take that!! lol

Now aren't you glad you took that test. Oh, get this. I don't know if you know this but I sprout all my salad ingredients. I get my seeds (organic) off of a reputable internet site, and I joined a community of vegans and vegetarians who sprout ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.

They are MUCH more involved than I am in organic this and that. I'm just contented with having my two kitchen shelves filled with my trays of freshly sprouted broccoli, fenugreek, etc.

So I just learned something new. And this is a real eye opener.

I am in contact with an agricultural specialist who taught me absolutely everything I know about organic sprouting. From where to get the seeds, to how long to germinate them (soak them in water over night), to growing them in trays (no soil). So I'm a happy camper growing my broccoli sprouts because I went on youtube and watched many videos on sprouting and discovered the anti-cancer benefits of broccoli sprouts (backed up my many hospital research facilities, etc.).

So I wanted to find out how a sprout becomes a head of broccoli. And we all know that broccoli is healthy, full of fiber, etc. etc. etc.

I asked him. "Do you mean that if took one of my sprouts and planted it, I would get one head of broccoli? (remember I have bowls and bowls, so I have THOUSANDS OF SPROUTS growing in my kitchen in 7 round trays about 6 inches wide.

I never understood how broccoli is grown.

So he explained. You would not sprout the seeds like you do. You would take a few seeds, place them in a little pot with soil, water them, watch them sprout and put them in your backyard and place them in the earth and in 6 to 8 weeks (broccoli is a cool weather veggie), and then you would see a head of broccoli, and then after you pluck the head, you would see more mini heads of broccoli".

So I said to myself "wait a cotton pickin minute". I have thousands of sprouts in my bowls, and if ONE seed grows a head of broccoli, and mini heads, then HOW MUCH BROCCOLI am I eating when I eat my sprouts, (even though there are various kinds of sprouts, I do sprout a lot of broccoli seeds because of the sulforaphane which is known for its cancer fighting properties"

So if you think about it, I eat a bunch of sprouts on my morning breakfast sandwich, I eat a bowl of sprouts for lunch to which I add whatever I want to add, (grilled chicken, tuna, whatever) and then at supper time, I have my salad (which of course, the base of which is my sprouts.

I must be eating the equivalent of 1000 heads of broccoli each and every day (if they were able to grow in the back yard I mean).

Can you imagine, the concentration of nutrition that I put in my body each and every day. I never even thought about this because I am not a gardner, I don't use soil, I don't plant stuff in my backyard.

I remember, that when I used to eat regular broccoli, I would get gassy, bloated and all that, and I had to use Beano. It never helped that much.

So now, I just eat my sprouts and I add other non-gassy veggies like zucchini and I have no gas.

It's a pleasure to eat veggies and you don't get gas.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that I am eating the equivalent of 1000 heads of broccoli every day. I just eat them in the early stages, when they are baby plants.

lol

Melody (just call me sprout lady), lol

Is there a thread dedicated to your "sprouting", Mel? If not, I think there might be an interest in one. I know I'd be interested. Do you have a YouTube video explaining how to get started? Or can you give me the website info for where you get your seeds and other organic products?

Be back in a flash. I have LOADS of videos up on youtube. You can even see me and Alan singing Jingle Bells. Most of my videos are sprouting videos.

Let me go and get the link and I'll be back in a flash.

I'm b aaaaaaack!!!!
lol

Start with this video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjwlIRrKRy0

It shows how I sprout and what I use.

Then look to the right where it says "more from eliz7212, and you'll see my beans sprouts, etc. etc.

I no longer sprout in mason jars. I germinate in them, of course, which means soaking for 7 or 10 hours (I just do it overnight).

I only sprout in the round green trays.

Best thing I ever did.

I buy my sprouts from Sproutpeople.com, handypantry.com and sprouthouse.com.

You can go to any of those website and LEARN EVERYTHING.

And start making your sprouts, and you'll think you went to heaven.

The nutritional benefit to your body will go through the roof.

let me know what you think of my videos.

Take care

Apparently I will live to be 90. Not sure I believe that, but it would be nice.
