Conan is quite funny... he is a "psycho kitty" IMO... a feral with few tame skills...but still funny to watch. I won't select a kitten who acts like this... I did once 40+ yrs ago and NEVER AGAIN...

Our little kitten is not like this at all with HER reflection.

Conan has mellowed if you watch his newer videos.
Perhaps they tamed him some?
He does resemble our Oreo... who is also very active but never was a hissy kitty and still isn't with our new kitten.

Why do cats have that reaction when someone pats or scratches their lower back?

Our Sheba did this slightly....

If they have dry skin back there, or fleas, it itches them quite a bit. Also when the a n a l glands become problematic, they can react this way.... when really severe, they will turn and BITE you.

Using foods with Omega-3's really reduce this behavior. So much of the skin problems relate to CORN in food...IMO. Sheba had sores on her face from corn.

What is really spooky about food, is this:
We fed both Sheba and Tippy with Eukanuba for about 10 yrs.
They lived long lives as a result (20 and over). When Sheba was diagnosed with beginning kidney problems in June 10 we switched to Science Diet Mature longevity... to reduce the phosphate and magnesium. By a coincidence IAMs shut down production of their foods around that time as well (they had contamination issues with salmonella). Both of our cats, died within 3mos of each other with the food change (Sheba in Oct 10 and Tippy in 1-11). Granted they were OLD...but it seemed rather dramatic to me. Now Eukanuba is back, and I have reinstated it here. I keep a small bowl of kibble upstairs during the night... for Weezie. She uses it every day. She is afraid to go downstairs without us...she is till worried about Oreo.
Little Weezie really LOVES Fancy Feast crunchies...so we buy them for her, and mix with Eukanuba kitten. I had bought them as a trial for Tippy...who wouldn't eat them.

YouTube has many cat videos displaying this same behavior. People think it is "funny" but it really demonstrates a need for a health change for the cat.

The cats always look uncomfortable whenever I see anyone doing this so I figured it had to be something like that. Poor kitties!

Since I've had my cats on an organic diet their coats have become so shiny and soft. I use Newman's Own and they seem to love it.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your cats Mrs. D. Three months apart is especially sad.

DH adopted a cat awhile back and I've had concerns about her. She is definately odd. Walks funny. Can't hunt. Just different.

I've looked for Eukenuba at the local pet store (chain) and grocery store, but it is not at either location. DH picked a brand that he likes and went with that.

We have the dog on a good product from the doggie/pet health food store and I've been trying to convince him to get something for the cat there.

We have the animals divded...dog...mine...cat...his. I'll see what I can do.

This video creeped out our kitten out totally.... she left her task to pestering me on the computer in a flash!

There is a condition called hyperesthesia for cats...

Oh, I know the video you mean! The black and white cat saying that phrase! I think the males make more varied sounds than the females.

Cats do try to talk and imitate us. We had a cat who would say GOOOING when we took her in the car. One summer on the dock in her cage she wailed NOOOOO...Goooooing.... and freaked us out!

Oreo now says aaawwwww wooooooo to go out. She stands by the door and says this. She also says it when forced to be in her cage, on our long trip up North. Only then it is a plaintive moan type utterance!

And Sheba called me MAAAAA. (she learned this when my son would arrive home from school on the bus or car pool and run in calling maaaaa!. Sheba then would go up to my husband and utter MAAAAA...? when I was a long time gone at work. And he'd say to her "Ma is at work" or "at the store buying food", etc and she would accept that and go back to waiting for me.

Weezie still uses Weeeeeee..uuuu when playing or coming in to see one of us. She has assorted other sounds that are hard to relate by typing...also... she is a very vocal kitty still! We've never had a cat this vocal before!
