Sasha,

Thanks for this info! It looks like it may be a textbook used in medical school- usually these are expensive in the $100-300 range and written by researchers and/or neurologists.

This one is a great find because it's entirely on non-motor symptoms and collects all current research in that area in one book. The research on this can be hard to track down- good find!

From now on, I think I will just tell people that I have "dopamine dysregulation syndrome" - that should sidestep some of the stereotypes about Parkinson's! (and stop people from saying, "But your hands don't shake! Can't be too bad!")

That would be good. My naming system isn't so polite - but those of us with IDDDS are like that, you know. It's my prelude to becoming a statue of myself, I fear.

Someone from the UK is selling the books on Ebay for a lot more money. It may have originated in the UK. If you have questions about it, you can contact the seller and ask, if you're an Ebay member.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Non-Motor-Sympto...3286.m63.l1177

Yes, it's edited by an UK group of doctors specializing in NMD symptoms, and includes papers by international experts. I wonder if the experts are clinicians, research scientists, or both.

At Amazon you get this deal:

Get $5 worth of MP3 downloads from Amazon MP3 when you order $75 or more in textbooks.

This book looks interesting, too:

Making the Connection Between Brain and Behavior: Coping with Parkinson's Disease

By Joseph H. Friedman

"While patients and families are aware of the physical challenges that accompany Parkinson’s disease, few are prepared for the common behavioral issues that impact their quality of life, including depression, anxiety, dementia, paranoid delusions, and sleep disorders. This book, the only one of its kind, focuses entirely on an area that most doctors overlook. Written in layman’s terms, it helps readers understand and cope with a wide variety of Parkinson’s-related behavioral issues and offers guidance on communicating with the healthcare team."

From a review:

"As a neurologist who developed Parkinsonism myself I have in vain been searching for a comprehensive review of these problems, and now I have found it in Dr. Joseph Friedman's Making the Connection Between Brain and Behavior--Coping with Parkinson's Disease."
