Just saw a news segment (Channel 5, KSTP, Minneapolis/St. Paul) a researcher who had a dream, that if neurological problems were caused by inhalents, ie., pollution, fumes, etc., why couldn't they cure the damage by introducing the cure the same way the damage got by the blood brain barrier, through sniffing.

Hi Vicky,
Your friends words are nearly exactly what the lead researcher in the field of nasal drug delivery, Dr William Frey said many years ago. " If bad things can get into the brain via the nose, why not good things". He pioneered this route, which by passes the blood-brain barrier, and goes directly to the brain. See the thread http://pduk.org/forum/index.php?topic=2336.0 Ron

Called the Program Manager and told him your information. Thank you for sharing. Has any more research been done? Source of story I posted about if you would like to see the video. http://kstp.com/article/stories/S213.shtml?cat=43 Vicky |

I posted a link a short time back about researchers (I believe it was in Israel) having rodents inhale a solution containing stained stem cells...they were able to observe the stained stem cells migrate through the rodent brain to the place of injury, and made the following observations:
1. the stem cells obviously survived being inhaled since once inside the brain, they moved around (in other words, the trip from solution to nasal passageway into brain did not kill them); and 2. the stem cells were what they called "functioning", because they migrated to the site of injury. The researchers said this demonstrated that the stem cells were able to send/receive messages (presumably including from neurotransmitters) since they migrated to where they were needed (otherwise, they would just be floating randomly around in the brain). I asked our neuro about snorting sinemet, and he bellowed at my ignorance (yet, did not tell me you COULDN'T do it...) I can hardly wait to see his reaction when I ask him about snorting autologous stem cells at the next appt. |
