Lightbulb Parkinson's Medication Linked to Heart Problems

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=6718704

Two drugs long prescribed to treat Parkinson's disease have been linked to heart-valve problems. Two studies in this week's New England Journal of Medicine present strong evidence that the drugs cause scarring of heart valves in nearly 30 percent of Parkinson's patients.

Some patients require surgery to replace leaky valves, which can result in heart failure and even death.

Default are heart atttacks more prevalent in pwp?

just lost a post so i will let my emails to my neuro in a new thread tell the story.with these pd meds i always have chest discomfort as the day progresses.have some degree of chest discomfort every day. just how much are the cognitive and psychsocial side efffcts we suffer from ldopa and agonists or combinations of meds. now i have a" little backwash from the heart that needs to be watched" after an uultrasound at last physical. More in a thread i am going to write but wanted to let Tena know that I am sharing it because i think it would be a good study for world congress poster. do more than the average # of pwp have heart attacks? i think more than pergolide and cabergoline are posssibly causng heart attacks and never underestimate the strength of anxiety and panic. Will explain in a new thread.

thanks for the topic tena
