Help from genetics experts
I just received my 23andme genetics results, and though my SPECT clearly shows I have PD at 45 years, my genetic risk is average. I know this doesn't mean anything, because there are many unknown environmental causes to PD.
But I have a marker for hemochromatosis, and in PD patients iron tends to accumulate in dopamine brain cells (SNpc). Do you think that hemochromatosis might be a cause for PD?
Next month when I visit my MDS I'll ask him to be tested for hemochromatosis and talk with him about this, but in the meantime, any comments or ideas?
