Rick: Yes, you may indeed be "spitting in the wind" but countless others have preceeded you and Anne and there are still some spitters like Paula, Bob D, Greg D and the lovely Tena and this "spittter" who recognize your talents.
Hopefuuly you and Anne will allow those of us working on the book to use some of your material. Bob C

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and Parkinson's in 2006. I wondered if the treatment from cancer helped to bring on the PD. I was on estrogen suppression pills for about 3 years after treatment, Tamoxifen for 9 months and Aromasin for 2 1/2 years. I thought the chemo drugs they gave me could have had something to do with the PD but after your comment about estrogen, I wonder if taking the pills had something to do with it. I had a cousin with PD so maybe it was in my genes to begin with. Although I've never heard of another cancer survivor that got PD after treatment. |

i went into early menopause in my mid 30s. Pd motor symptoms by late 30s. you can google the two and find that there is a connection with number of years fertile and parkinson's. Early onset menopause increases your chances of getting it. or is it that pd can cause early menopause.? that would make it an excellent marker. could alert the physicians to screen other pd symptoms earlier.

It is impossible to know, of course, but I would be more inclined to think that the stress of struggling with cancer tipped the balance into PD. The effects of estrogen would tend to be a slowing down of the damage to the brain over the years while also blunting BBB problems. The cancer, however, was more acute and the stress was a sledge hammer to your endocrine stress system.
In a way we are like spinning tops. Each time life pokes us we wobble a little more. A big poke like cancer or the flu can knock us over.
