So, we have been using Stevia for awhile now and it's pretty good, you do have to watch out for that aftertaste and our success with it varies from brand to brand.
But we recently ordered that "brain repair forumla" from Dr. Blaylock and in his book that you get with the order, he recommends "Just Like Sugar" as a sugar substitute. Apparently no effect on blood sugar levels, and no unpleasant aftertaste like you can get with the stevia. And, same as stevia, you can cook with it, bake with it, etc. It apparently is made from chicory, orange peel, and a few other natural ingredients. Dr. Blaylock's lab has apparently tested the product for MSG and some other excitotoxins and found none. You can google "Just Like Sugar" and the reviews are very good. As for the Brain Repair formula, it's a lot of pills but they contain stuff we take anyway, just in much smaller quantities. The ingredients are spelled out on the website, we can't decide if it is better to take his formulation at a much lower dose, and the ingredients may be more bioavailable, or the stuff we already take which is supposed to be pretty good anyway. When we began taking it, seemed like the meds just didn't work like before (which wasn't good to begin with) and his cover letter does indicate such interference can occur and you need to consult with your neuro before and while taking them. Lots of B vitamins which I know can interfere with the sinemet. If anyone else is taking the Brain Repair forumla from Blaylock, I'd love to hear your experience with it thus far. |
