Default Road to Recovery from Parkinson's Disease: book

http://www.pr.com/press-release/199329
Robert Rodgers, Ph.D., is a researcher who is unwilling to wait patiently as the wheels of science grind ever so slowly and inefficiently. The pace of science as it is practiced today is too slow to help the living," he proclaims. "It is high time to discover ways that people alive today with Parkinson's Disease can get profound relief from their symptoms."

Default Everyone?

** What is his PH. D. in?

He doesn't seem to discuss the genetics of PD. Many persons with PD are athletes and other trained professional athletes. Are we ready to condemn ourselves as the culprits of our own illness whether intentional or nonintentional?

There are persons (like myself) who have 2 mutations of my Parkin gene from one parent. This means my three children have 100% chance of also having mutations. Although this does not cause or gaurantee they will have PD, the mutations increase the likelyhood of their having it if exposed to whatever I was exposed to. Does this mean they should live theirs lives as if they have Parkinson's? No, Dr. Robert, I don't buy it. My children are high acheivers and if they spent all their time worrying about PD, they would not acheive the successful lives they now lead.

Life has risks. If we have an illness, we should not and cannot second guess what we did, knowingly or unknowingly, to cause our illness. I am not Robert's mother, and if I were, I could not be proud of a son who is arrogant enough to believe he can solve everyones ills, if everyone would only live the way he believes they should. Robert may be able to help improve peoples lives with some basic principles of heathy living, Robert may have excellant knowledge of the physciological workings of the body. But Robert cannot offer any more to Parkinson's patients than he can to patients with COPD, Arthritis, Cancer, Heart Disease or any other life threatening illness. Live his rules and you will live your life anticipating death. Live your life on your terms and you will live your life anticipating life. The choice is yours.

Sorry, checked out his website and found nothing new. Millions of books are on the market telling people how to live your life so you won't die. I enjoy reading inspirational stories about persons, such as Stephen Hawkings or Michael J. Fox, who live their lives, not trying to prevent death, but with a purpose: Positive impact on other peoples' lives.

Sincerely,
Vicky
