Steve good luck at the neuro. I'm becoming more and more familiar with, "I can't live like this."

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to try have a teaspoon before bed.

Take care,
Robert

Robert-
Just a suggestion, but you might do well to start with a quarter tsp and see if that is enough.

Recently I took an unplanned "vacation" from the nightly DM. I didn't notice a change in my function then, but when I resumed taking it 2 days ago, it noticably increased the length of time I can place between 6mg doses of requip and some days I've actually skipped the last dose. Also, many fewer right hip motions -- that's where my involuntarya movements occur.

What dose were you using and how long had you done so if I may ask?

Thanks Robert..My neuro gave me an Rx for valium 5 mg once per day, in the evening when my meds wear off for the day, for anxiety, sleep, and to relax muscles

It works well for anxiety, and helps relax the muscles, and seems to take the edge off beng so uncomfortable..I will see what is does for insomnia tonight..So far I think a slightly higher dose would be better, but today is only the first day, so time will tell

My neuro thought it would be better to make me comfortable when Im off than treating it with more stalevo because of side effects, dystonia/dyskinesia, etc

I have been dwelling to much on, "if my off periods are this bad already, what is it gonna be like 5 years from now?"..That is not a good place to be, because one can lose sight of hope real fast

I have to humbly admitt, that, even though I also have pd, untill I got to where Im at now, I have read about , and I have seen the struggles of other PWP, I had no idea what it felt like untill I felt it myself

A year ago, I didnt know what an off period felt like, and I didnt know what dyskinesia felt like, beause I didnt have it..All I knew is that it didnt look like much fun

Steve, did the valium help at all? At least bring you to a mental state that has some separation from the physical?

I just filled a prescription of Lexapro. I've resisted antidepressants for 5 years, but it's clear to me that I need some help now.

Rick,
I had started in late January 2010 and took 3.5 mg at night till mid July. Then I resumed with a new bottle this week. I also think I may experience different results with different brands, even though I've been careful to only buy the children's version in the most basic formula.

Today is the second day on valium..So far I can sum it up this way

I know I have pd, but I dont give a s**t ..

But seriously, that is what it does for anxiety and depression..It completely removed the desire to isolate, and it provides me with a sense of security of having another tool in my little bag of tricks

Unfortunalely, sooner or later, when my body builds up a dependency, it will probably lose it effects, and require more of it to do the same thing, and the last thing I want to be doing, is to put myself in a position where I have to go through a med withdrawal with pd..If and when it stops working, I will ask my neuro if he can Rx something else

For the first few hours after it kicks in, my body is not so tensed up, and uncomfortable when Im off for the night

I didnt sleep well on it last night, but I feel like I will sleep well tonight

I had another hellish night sleeping..My sleep was broken..Even though I went into a deep sleep, it wasnt quality rest..I woke up twice during the night, and I felt horrible..Big time shuffling to the bathroom

So my experience with sleep meds so far..

Over the counter only works for sleep, and does nothing to relax the muscles, make me comfortable during off periods, does nothing for anxiety/depression

Clonazapam, makes for good sleep, but for me does little for anxiety, and only fair for muscle relaxation..The when my body builds up a dependency, it doesnt work anymore, because my body needs more to accomplish the same results..I dont think taking more Clonazapam is a good idea..Getting addicted to Benzos is like playing Russia Roullette

Ambien works great for sleep, and worked well as a muscle relaxer..Does nothing for anxiety/depression

Valium works excellent for anxiety/depression, good for about 3 hours of muscle relaxation..After that I am uncomfortable again, but it works so good for anxiety and depression, that I am uncomfortable, but
I dont care..For sleep, it puts me to sleep, but the quality of that sleep sucks..Maybe it is premature to make a judgement about Valium, because Ive only taken it for two nights

Seems no matter what Ive tried, I always end up back to square one..If I could find a drug..(if one exists)..that was a combination of the good, of the three drugs Ive tried, that would be great

Medications obviously have one effect for some people, and another effect on other people, but this is my experience
