Default DBS in the News

I don't know if any of you saw it this morning but the NBC Today show aired a story about a man with essential tremor having DBS done. They were in the operating room with him as the surgery was going on. The probe had already been implanted and they were hooking up the electrical unit to test the probe. I am still amazed at how the tremor just stops.

Yup it is amazing. I know when they tested mine, it was like some one took a lead blanket off of me.
It is truly a miracle!

It is amazing; imagine how it must feel! What it's like to be (almost) normal again...even if it's only masking and for a finite amount of time, still.

I have heard that they will start trials for an external DBS soon; a friend sent me the info, and I dare say, I would do it if I could beam in HBO for free and watch it directly on my iPod via Bluetooth

Default I'm a wi-fi hotspot!!

Get free cable and internet too!,,LOL! But seriously I had DBS in '07 and my primary symptoms are rigidity, NO tremor. Very disappointed with results, if I don''t have sinemet on board, I"m like a board, same dose as before DBS, not the dyskinesia now though. I wonder about it's effectiveness when there is no tremor. I've been told targeting is easier with a tremor, they go straight to it because it sounds like static on a phone line when they are listening during the micro recording, no tremor, poor targeting? Comtemplating a 2nd try but remembering that drill is bone jarring !!!
